Since arriving in Munich, I have found myself unable to sleep a full night and instead relying on a few solid naps throughout the day. I'm really not sure how or when I'll get in sync with the timezone, but I'm not too worried about it. Anyways, here is some of the scoop for the day:
-Snow fell overnight and throughout the day in Munich, but it was a pleasure driving an S4 with quattro and winter tires - felt complete control even in snow covered roads. I'm restraining from pushing the car too hard and instead letting it break in. Had to talk myself out of using launch control at a stop light, but even at low rpm(2-4k) the torque is really impressive. In lamens terms, I might need to get a neck brace.
-Moved from an Audi sponsored hotel near the airport to a small hotel in center of Munich. Immediately went for some Bavarian cooking and beer. OH the BEER! WOW! Augustiner Dunkels, a dark/amber colored beer courtesy of Munich's oldest brewery(est. 1328) alone was worth coming to Munich for. I plan to do some beer garden hopping tomorrow night and sample some other brews.
-Check out my 35mm photography! Ok, it's not what you think it is. It was taken with my digital camera, but with a 35mm prime(not zoomable) lens, which works great in low light. I took it out to the center of Munich to capture some sights and specifically the Christmas Markets. I must say that the city is impeccably clean and well taken care off even in these sloppy winter conditions. The markets sell everything from knitted sweater to archery and from alcoholic drinks(hot drinks) to soup. But it's not what they sell, but rather how everything is presented and maintained. A few of the markets were in strict Bavarian fashion. Here are some of the photos from a cold night in Munich. Enjoy!
your pictures are amazing!! when are we going to see some pictures of YOU enjoying Germany?!
